Preclinical research encompasses everything done before human testing: cell studies, biochemical assays, and animal models. The vast majority of compounds in the research peptide market - BPC-157, TB-500, ipamorelin, MOTS-c, epitalon - have preclinical evidence only. Their published literature consists of cell culture and rodent studies, not human trials.
Understanding this matters for interpreting claims. A vendor or forum post describing what a peptide 'does' is usually describing preclinical findings: effects observed in rats, mice, or cell cultures under laboratory conditions. These findings are scientifically real but preliminary - the history of drug development is littered with compounds that worked in animals and failed in humans.
